Hand-Sewn Kilts of the Highest Quality

My name is Bonnie Heather Greene and I'm a professional kiltmaker.

I learned to make kilts in 2006 as an apprentice to a renowned kiltmaker from Scotland, Ann Stewart, who made kilts for more than 50 years. Always wanting to learn more and more, I use the best of Ann's methods plus techniques from The Art of Kiltmaking.  Altering kilts made by many well known kiltmakers, such as Thomas Gordon & Sons, has helped me build my skills as well.

Over the years, I've custom made more than 805 traditional hand-stitched kilts for Scottish and Celtic enthusiasts, highland dancers, Scottish Country dancers, pipers, drummers and many others. I've made kilts for clients nearby in the New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania area, throughout the United States, Canada, and as far away as Australia.

I've made many kilts for others too, including The Scottish Tartans Museum, Caledonia Fine Arts and The Scottish Weaver/Great Scot International.

Also I have a lot of experience doing kilt alterations and repairs. I've fixed more than 400 kilts and offer that service.

In addition to 8 yard knife pleated kilts, I make kilts from 5 to 9 yards, historic 4 yard box pleated kilts, great kilts (breacan feile), military box pleated kilts, fly plaids and flashes.

For the ladies, I make kilts and kilted skirts in short, long, medium lengths and mini-kilts.  I can make or provide tartan items such as scarves, shawls, sashes and Stoles.

Making kilts for highland dancers is a joy for me. Since I've done highland dancing for many years, I'm very aware of how the kilt needs to fit well and and swing nicely.

The Outlander series has inspired me to offer period style kilts for men in a weathered Scottish tartan very similar to the Outlander tartan. I'm also making scarves, shawls and skirts for ladies in this tartan, as well as in other Outlander related weathered tartans, such as Fraser, Mac Kenzie, Douglas and Ross Hunting.

I love making wee kilts for babies and children. I make a hem to allow for future growth.  For young children,  I make a simple "Kiltie" style with fewer pleats. For older kids, I make a scaled down version of a traditional kilt with tailored pleat stitching and inner construction.

My kilts are hand sewn with thousands of tiny stitches and are made with great care and attention to detail. I put my heart into making beautiful kilts.

Thank you for visiting my website. It would be my pleasure to make a bonnie kilt for you.
